Woven
Mask
Layers and layers of colored and iridescent glass fragments make up a glittering mask inspired by woven textiles and fabric. The art of producing cloth has been a crucial part of every culture on the planet throughout human history. Unfortunately, due to their materials, few pieces have survived the test of time, leading to ignorance and dismissal of the craft in the Western art canon. Glass, however, is a material that preserves for thousands of years. Placed on a pedestal, this mask yearns for a face. But without the flexibility to conform to a wearer, and without fasteners to attach it, Woven remains a piece of art confined by the premises of its making.
